ART MORA is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Korean-Canadian painter Hayoung Jung. Since receiving the top award at ART MORA's Open Call Exhibition in 2019, Jung has continued to develop a distinctive visual language. This marks her second solo exhibition with the gallery, reflecting six years of artistic growth and a deeply personal journey.

Rooted in a surrealist sensibility, Jung's paintings move fluidly between reality and imagination. Her forests, lakes, light, and darkness are not depictions of physical places, but psychological landscapes shaped by memory and emotion. Just as Surrealism sought to reveal truths beyond visible reality through dreams and the unconscious, Jung transforms emotions that cannot easily be expressed into imagined worlds. Her landscapes are spaces of healing—created not to escape reality, but to endure it and move forward.

Throughout this series, a solitary figure and a companion dog remain together through moments of darkness and joy. Walking quietly in the same direction, they embody trust, comfort, and silent companionship. The paintings evoke life's emotional landscapes: enduring unexpected storms, waiting beneath skies heavy with clouds, passing through ordinary days that seem endless, and remembering brief yet radiant moments of peace. Each work invites viewers to revisit memories, gently embrace old wounds, and discover the quiet reassurance that they are not alone.

The exhibition title, A Story Destined to Shine, speaks to this journey. It reflects the belief that even after moments of uncertainty, loss, and struggle, life still holds the possibility of renewal. Jung's paintings are not fantasies that distance us from reality; they are acts of imagination that help us return to it with greater strength, hope, and resilience. Perhaps your story, too, is destined to shine.
