Jeffrey MELZACK

Art Mora is honored to announce Jeffrey Melzack’s solo exhibition with his recent paintings during the pandemic. The world flipped and returned to a new normal life after the COVID-19 pandemic, and Melzack has painted paintings like writing a diary. He paints regular landscapes like a bunch of wood and lake views after walks in nature, draws dancers’ movements when he sees ballet performances or musicals, and paints abstracts with long and deep thinking of his other paintings which finished a long time ago. Every moment becomes more precious after he finds cancer in his body. The title of the exhibition “With Beauty May I Walk” presents his positive personality. In 2013, Art Mora invited Jeffrey Melzack for his art exhibition in the Chelsea location and this is his fifth solo exhibition with ART MORA.

Jeffrey Melzack’s surrealistic landscape painting is about the balance of life. Each space is connected like Dutch printmaking artist Maurits Cornelis Escher’s Ascending and Descending (1960). Surface painting images connect several canvases, or he divides the canvas into two or three separated spaces by changing background colors. Yin and Yang, West and East, Man and Women, Nature and artificial, sun and moon, inside and outside, and bright and dark, all element makes harmony and keep balance. Might be a heavy theme of the painting depicted by soft and thin layers of colors which is another balancing. Each element in his painting has a special meaning and symbol and this wise man whispers how we live through his painting.

Jeffrey Melzack was born and raised in New York City. This talented little Jewish boy studied at the high school art and design in NYC then served in the military as a technical illustrator and continued his studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. Then Jeffrey became an art teacher and enjoyed his work until he retired. He never stopped painting his art and participated in many exhibitions. Last year 2023, his painting won the competition for Imagery Estate Winery, and his painting became a label for Viognier 2023. During the opening reception, the gallery will serve the viognier wine.
