Jong Hyun Kwon
Kwon has expanded her distinctive small collage works into various forms and shapes, creating pieces that resemble whimsical villages—complete with tiny houses, yards, trees, and a church nestled on a mountain. Her materials include discarded or overlooked objects such as broken beads, fabric scraps, buttons, colored paper, and thread. These seemingly unusable items are transformed through her artistic vision into vibrant, dreamlike landscapes.
With a refined aesthetic sense, Kwon carefully composes each work by selecting and placing colors and forms with intention. Every shape holds a meaning and a rightful place in her compositions. Her works serve as miniature reflections of life—filtered through the lens of imagination and memory. The surreal elements evoke dreamscapes that speak to our inner desires and life’s aspirations.
Jong Hyun Kwon is a Korean artist based in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Painting from Chung-Ang University in South Korea. Since 2019, she has actively exhibited in numerous group shows, and this exhibition marks her 16th solo presentation.
