Sammy Koh

Sammy Koh is a Korean artist based in San Francisco. She studied art at Seoul National University and worked as an illustration artist. Since 2021, Koh become a full-time artist and has painted many realistic landscapes. She was a winner of the ART MORA Opencall for Artists in 2022, and had a solo exhibition "Wonderland".

Koh developed her own surrealistic forest scenery and unveiled a new series of works. Familiar yet unfamiliar landscape painting becomes still life painting because Koh lit the lamp and put the landscape on a table.

"Sunrise is a sacred and precious time of the day. In the twilight of the morning, all life silently waits for the sunrise. These moments are peaceful, quiet, and all-around magical. Daybreak also brings renewed hope of another day of healing. I want to paint this magical light that I have seen and deliver it to the viewers."

Sammy captures the beautiful landscape and adds her memories and dreams to the painting. Her painting style is based on neo-surrealism nowadays.
