Sun KIM
Sun KIM is a sculptor based in Busan, South Korea. His work primarily features anthropomorphized animals that serve as reflections of the artist himself.
In his recent series Holding a Painting, the sculpted figures hold iconic artworks by world-renowned artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Vincent van Gogh. Each sculpture is accompanied by symbolic elements—birds, trees, ducks, and flowers—that act as companions to the central figure, enriching the atmosphere and narrative.
In 2009, Kim debuted his Red Window series in his first solo exhibition in the United States. The "red window" functions like the magical wardrobe in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe—a gateway to a dreamlike, otherworldly realm, inviting viewers to step into a world of imagination and wonder.
