SABUJAK Pottery by Sunny Shin.
Inspired by the Ten Kings of Hell exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Sunny incorporated the beauty and artistic traditions of the Goryeo period into her ceramic designs. Drawing on the lotus flower, a recurring motif in Buddhist art, she created lotus-shaped dinnerware with eight petals, each representing one of the principles of the Buddhist Eightfold Path: right understanding, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration. Through this design, Sunny brings together the cultural heritage of Goryeo, Buddhist symbolism,
and contemporary ceramic art.
